Murillo

Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was a Baroque painter born in Seville in 1617. Murillo always painted with great sessibility, like his character, he was an affable person. Their faces were rounded and sweet.

Orphaned at a very young age, he began his apprenticeship in Juan del Castillo’s workshop, where he remained for five years.

In 1645, he received his first important commission, thirteen canvases for the small cloister of the Convent of San Francisco de Sevilla, with great success, which led to the arrival of more commissions. His fame spread throughout Spain, to such an extent that King Charles II invited Murillo to live in Madrid, but he resorted to the invitation. It is precisely by painting one of them that his Immaculate Concepts are famous, and he suffered a fall, which caused his death a few days later in 1682.
